Project Strategy
As the flooring contractor on this project, our task was to bring the designers vision to life. In this particular circumstance, we wanted to achieve a luxurious feel while highlighting certain spaces with vibrant and unique design strategies.
We were responsible for the assessment and planning, preparing the space, installing various flooring types, addressing all quality issues and concerns, and in the end, delivered a finished product that met the design and performance expectations.
Unique Installation Challenge Strategy
As experienced flooring installers, we’ve handled nearly every situation imaginable. That being said, unique challenges still arise from time to time—and that’s what keeps our work engaging. This Rosera Westmont project presented many challenges, but the one that stands out the most was the challenge of its sheer size, the Amenity Space alone called for over 10,000 sf of tile, much of which was large format tile. When working with large tiles in large quantities like this, routine tasks like housing, transporting, moving, and installing become a bit more complex.
Another notable difficulty was the installation of large format tiles, specifically the tile used on the wall of the fireplace. The tile that was used is very large (5ft x 10ft) and is a bookmatch tile. A bookmatch tile is a tile that is meant to be installed using a design technique where two tiles are placed end to end, creating the visual effect of an open book. So not only was it a challenge to get this tile up and in, matching the tiles up in the correct layout was unique in itself.
Lastly, some other challenges arose when transitioning from one material to another. In some areas, this required custom international schluter transition pieces. In other rooms, we had to level the floor transition using special ramps. We were also required to create smooth transitions with custom carpet inserts and tile insets.
In the end, despite all of the challenges, the project was a great success as evidenced in the attached photos.
