Project Strategy

Located along Riverside Drive in Green Bay, the Somerville Office Building serves as the new headquarters for Somerville Architects and Engineers, an employee-owned firm with deep roots in the community dating back to 1946. Designed by Somerville for Somerville, the building stands as both a workplace and a living showcase of the firm’s design philosophy, reflecting nearly eight decades of experience shaping some of the region’s most recognizable spaces.

The new headquarters was intentionally designed to support collaboration, employee wellbeing, and long-term growth. Oriented to maximize natural light and views of the Fox River and Lambeau Field, the building features expansive glass, warm finishes, and thoughtfully zoned interiors that create a welcoming and productive environment. With space to accommodate future staff growth, the project reinforces Somerville’s commitment to its team, its clients, and the surrounding community.

Flooring played a key role in supporting both functionality and comfort throughout the office. In open office and workstation areas, Milliken carpet tile was installed to help dampen sound and improve acoustics, creating quieter spaces that support focus and collaboration. Across the project, more than 2,000 square yards of carpet and carpet tile were installed, balancing performance with a clean, professional aesthetic.

Sustainability and longevity were important considerations throughout the project. The use of durable, low maintenance flooring materials helps reduce replacement cycles, minimize waste, and support healthier indoor environments. These material choices align with the building’s overall design intent, which emphasizes efficiency, comfort, and responsible material use.

As a building designed to showcase the firm’s own capabilities, the Somerville Office Building is more than a workplace. It reflects pride, purpose, and a deep commitment to community. Through thoughtful design, strategic material selection, and a strong focus on employee experience, the project stands as a lasting example of Somerville’s legacy and its forward looking vision.
