Project Strategy

Since 1967, Gwynn’s of Mt. Pleasant has been an iconic shopping destination, renowned for exceptional service and curated luxury merchandise. Spanning 22,000 square feet, the store offers premier lines in men’s and women’s fashion, cosmetics and skincare, and upscale gifts and home accessories. Serving both the local community and Charleston’s vibrant visitor base, Gwynn’s embodies the Lowcountry experience.

When the owners approached us, their vision was clear: transform the store over Labor Day weekend without compromising its traditional elegance. With their personal designer engaged, we faced a unique challenge—delivering a luxury aesthetic under tight time constraints while honoring the client’s preference for traditional materials.

Our design team began by curating options from our extensive library, focusing on products that balanced timeless sophistication, affordability, and speed to market. Carpet tile was off the table, narrowing the field to broadloom solutions with luxury appeal. Leveraging our partnership with another Starnet vendor, we identified a luxe-look, made-to-order broadloom with attached cushion that could be produced in just two weeks, complemented by an in-stock LVT collection for high-traffic zones.

Single Source Interior Contractor Award Strategy

Once materials and pricing were finalized, the real test began orchestrating flawless execution within an accelerated timeline. This required seamless coordination between our team, the manufacturer, and the client.

Every detail—from production scheduling to delivery logistics—was synchronized to ensure materials arrived on time for staging and installation. Meanwhile, the owners managed the monumental task of clearing the store, enabling our crews to work efficiently through Labor Day weekend to meet the date of September 1st reopening deadline.

What makes this project exceptional is not only the speed and precision of delivery but the trust and collaboration that defined the process.

The owners placed full confidence in our ability to provide a collaborative design direction, source premium products, and execute under extraordinary constraints. Our partnership with the other Starnet vendor was instrumental—from the local representative to their leadership and manufacturing working in lockstep from the moment samples were ordered, a purchase order was issued to tracking delivery of materials.

This renovation exemplifies the power of strategic partnerships, agile thinking, and client collaboration. Completing a luxury retail transformation over a holiday weekend is no small feat, and this success story reflects the creativity, resourcefulness, and commitment that drives our work when working directly with owner\'s.
