Project Strategy

We are proud to showcase our integral role in American Airlines’ newest pre-flight experience: the Flagship Lounge and Admirals Club in Philadelphia International Airport’s A West terminal.

As one of American’s most important hubs—with more than 19 million travelers passing through PHL last year—American sought to create an oasis that blends thoughtful design, elevated comfort, and world-class hospitality. Our flooring and wall-surface craftsmanship served as a cornerstone in achieving that vision.

We delivered comprehensive flooring and wall surface installations across the nearly 12,500 sq. ft. Flagship Lounge and the nearly 11,000 sq. ft. Admirals Club Lounge. We collaborated closely with Starnet vendors—Daltile, Mohawk, Roppe, Tarkett, AHF, Altro, and TEC.

The meticulous installation of resilient flooring, large format tile, and specialty wall tile helped unify the design vision, ensuring transitions between the “neighborhoods” are both functional and visually seamless.

Lounge Neighborhood - Warm, inviting carpet tile blends with soft seating areas and a central fireplace, creating a restorative retreat for travelers. The precise installation ensured clean transitions and a grounded, luxuriously comfortable environment where guests can decompress between flights.

Dining & Bar Neighborhoods -These vibrant spaces feature a mix of full-service bars and self-serve stations wrapped in sophisticated tile flooring and striking wall panels. The layout emphasizes durability while elevating the modern hospitality aesthetic.

Villas (Restrooms & Spa Style Showers) -The villas required some of the project’s most intricate tile work. Large-format panels and tile were installed with exacting alignment to create functional, beautifully seamless spa environments. Our team prioritized careful layout planning to ensure the most aesthetically consistent presentation.

Kids’ Room - This playful space provides comfort and practicality for families, featuring durable, vibrant carpet tile designed to handle high traffic while maintaining a welcoming tone.

Beneath the visible finishes, across both lounges, our team installed more than 1,600 bags of TEC self leveling underlayment and utilized more than 650 bags of TEC thinset to achieve a flat, stable surfaces required for installations. This foundational work ensured longevity, safety, and impeccable visual results.

Our partnership with Starnet vendors was critical in maintaining schedule certainty and material reliability. In the demanding airport construction environment—where timelines are tight, access is limited, and coordination is paramount—having dependable vendor partners allowed us to deliver the project on time and within budget. Working hand in hand with our vendors, we elevated the style and craftsmanship that define American Airlines’ newest signature customer experience.

Unique Installation Challenge - This project required overcoming complex logistics and an accelerated schedule within an active airport environment. Restricted access and high coordination demands created significant installation challenges.

To meet these constraints, we developed a detailed, phased installation plan for self-leveling, tile, and resilient flooring that drove the project. We created and maintained a color-coded drawing along with a schedule that coordinated all trades. This schedule was distributed and updated throughout the project, helping drive efficiency, minimize conflicts, and keep the project on track to meet the aggressive timeline.

An additional challenge was the specified structural expansion joint located in the main lobby check-in area, a highly visible and critical space, where the Architect required the tile to sit directly within the joint. To achieve this, we carefully chipped the slab shoulders so the joint could sit flat and align precisely with the finished tile, ensuring a flawless and seamless final appearance.

Through proactive planning, trade coordination, and precise execution, we successfully delivered a high-quality flooring installation while meeting tight schedule demands in a challenging airport setting.
