Project Strategy
Located on the North Shore of Nassau County, Long Island, the James H. Vernon School serves students in grades 3-6. The project involved both the renovation of an existing 3,500 SF cafeteria and the addition of a brand-new 7,000 SF music suite. Milburn Flooring partnered with Renu Contracting during the summer of 2024 to complete all flooring finishes, ensuring the spaces were ready for the start of the school year in September.
Throughout construction, Milburn Flooring undertook extensive floor preparation and self-leveling to ensure a seamless transition between the new addition and the existing building, a common challenge in projects of this nature. The design and layout of the flooring were thoughtfully chosen by BBS Architects to complement the vibrant, music-themed spaces. A standout feature of the design is a "Piano Keys" corridor, along with bold black and purple accent stripes in the Band, Orchestra, and Music Rooms, which tie into the overall décor and create an engaging, creative environment for students.
