Project Strategy
Ted Moudis Associates (TMA) and Consolidated Flooring joined forces to reimagine the future workplace for a prestigious global investment firm at their NYC headquarters. Keeping with the company’s roots and goal for a timeless, yet distinctive design, TMA combined rich and dynamic curved wood elements to contrast with pure architectural forms, creating an inviting, energizing space for their staff, investors and visitors.
To ensure the success of this project, especially given the client's prominence, TMA collaborated closely with Consolidated Flooring for the flooring installation. Both teams demonstrated extreme attention to detail throughout the process, meticulously ensuring every aspect of the flooring was perfect. This included the careful selection and installation of Mannington carpet tile and resilient flooring, chosen for its ability to enhance the space while seamlessly blending with the overall design. The subtle texture and cool muted tones of the carpet tile complement the sleek aesthetic without drawing focus from other design elements, contributing to the chic and sophisticated atmosphere. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Mannington carpet tile also provides functional benefits. Its inherent sound-absorbing qualities contribute to a quieter and more productive work environment, while the soft texture adds a layer of comfort underfoot. This careful consideration of both form and function resulted in a flooring solution that perfectly balances the warmth of the wood installed throughout the space with the need for noise reduction and a calming ambiance. This dedication to quality, combined with their expertise, resulted in a flawless finish that exceeded the client's expectations.
Through in-depth employee interviews, surveys and focus groups, TMA developed a plan layout that serves the needs of the team upon move-in, while also providing flexibility for expansion in the short and long-term. Offices and open work areas are consistent with a one-size-fits all approach, further allowing for future change and growth in all departments across the two occupied floors. The 8th floor offers a private entry and a conference center that looks onto a large and well-appointed terrace allowing for uninterrupted daylight along a double height opening that travels most of the north building façade, leading into a large café, reconfigurable conference area and an interconnecting stair. This large gathering space creates opportunities for collaboration and events, but is reconfigurable for smaller groups through the use of operable glass and wood walls. The connecting stair serves as the link between the two floors providing a means for impromptu conversations among staff and a casual seating area below. The upper floor serves as a large work area for most of the teams and is interspersed with amenities, such as a coffee bar, tea point, state of the art gym, a meditation and yoga room and fully equipped locker rooms. Purposeful cut through points around the building core provide a connection between the North and South sides of the very large floor plate, creating service and wellness points at each quadrant to accommodate all employees. Finishes and furniture were selected while keeping health, wellness and sustainability at the forefront, prioritizing natural materials where possible and celebrated throughout the entire fit-out.
The successful completion of this project was a testament to the seamless teamwork between Ted Moudis Associates and Consolidated Flooring. The combined efforts resulted in a truly exceptional space that met the client's needs and aspirations, while also setting a new standard for modern workplace design.
