Project Strategy

Fighting cancer is a long, rigorous, intense process that requires the upmost in healthcare. That is why Joe Arrington wanted a clean, healthy, calming environment for their patients. Working closely with Tarkett's Designer on Demand program, Providence created a design that would keep their patients with suppressed immune systems healthy, provide a calming environment for a stressful time, and allow seamless traffic flow to maximize efficiency and create a sense of organization in the midst of so much uncertainty. The pattern in the sheet vinyl separates the seating areas from the walkways and is non-directional to allow for a free flow of foot traffic. The colors in the design and the floral accents provide both a calming and sanitary sense.

Unique Installation Challenge Strategy

Friday afternoon, the employees of Joe Arrington Cancer Center went home and came back Monday morning to a completely new floor in their lobby. As a cancer center treating people with suppressed immune systems, Joe Arrington had a unique need for quick and clean installation, which we met by completing the project in 3 phases over weekends, the largest of which was 300 square yards in the lobby. In just one weekend, we moved the furniture, took up the existing floor, scraped the old glue, floated the floor to address significant subfloor issues, installed the sheet vinyl with a pattern, put in Millwork base, and put the furniture back. The result is a beautiful, refreshing, calming atmosphere for patients dealing with some of the most difficult times of their lives. In addition, the use of this sheet vinyl will allow for a healthier, cleaner environment for people with fragile immune systems.
