Project Strategy
The Performing Arts Center has historically had a very muted design in its lobby and theatre. The hope with this project was to add interest, art and design to the venue to provide a warm and welcoming artistic space for 100,000 patrons each year. The customized curves throughout the lobby spaces were added to break up the field carpet, but also to match the rounded design both inside and outside of the building.
Unique Installation Challenge Strategy
The open, rounded, and curved stairwells were a challege to say the least with a broadloom carpet. Wrapping the carpet was only doable with the agressiveness of the Mannington Broadloom adhesive. Also intertwinning the multi-level loop pattern carpet against the solid cut-pile was a detail that took time with the carpet pile direction playing a big part. The archs in the carpet were however the big challege. What Pfieffer designed with the program looked good on paper, however, once on site it took some tweeking and adjustment. The biggest challenge was the overall size of the design pattern that was overcome by the installers special tricks.
We had such a great team to work with, and the staff at the PAC was very accomodating.
