Project Strategy
A hospital trip for children can be a nervous experience… but with style and effort it can be a transformative space offering comfort. The Women & Children’s Center at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) commits to providing the highest quality of care for women & children. The design team set out back in 2022 to revise its pediatric services and provide a more colorful and healing surrounding to their young patients.
HMC Architects, general contractor RMG Building, Inc., and Universal Metro, Inc. (UMI) worked together to help bring multi-toned performance floor coverings to PVMHC pediatric world. UMI teamed up with Daltile, Johnsonite, and Milliken on this project. Daltile supplied its String Theory that was used for the ward’s office and multipurpose rooms. Johnsonite provided 12 different colors of vinyl flooring using primary colors. It is truly unique to have a wide variety of ”Ready-to-Ship” off-the-shelf vinyl flooring in these shades, and it is a testament to the value Johnsonite possesses as a Starnet partner. Milliken’s Obex Carpet Tile was used as a walk-off mat to protect the health of the space without compromising aesthetics. Ardex X-5 Thinset and MC were applied as underlayment to provide a 10-year plus warranty system.
The resulting project combines Pomona Valley Medical Center's world-class facilities and equipment with a color scheme that promotes brightness and healing. Universal Metro and it’s valued Starnet Partners are proud of the first-class patient rooms, hallways, common areas, and staff rooms that provide families a nurturing environment for their children. Universal Metro is grateful to have been involved in this $438,000 project.
