Project Strategy
The project emerged as a response to the pressing challenge faced by Magnolia Trace Elementary School: outgrowing its existing building and operating from multiple portable structures. Greenleaf Architects not only revitalized the existing structure but also seamlessly integrated a new building, effectively meeting the growing needs of the student body.
With the addition of another building, wayfinding became a priority in the design. A standout feature of the renovation is the flooring design, where strategically placed paw prints serve as a playful yet practical solution for wayfinding throughout the hallways. The use of three distinct color combinations for exits, common spaces, and restrooms contributes to a visually intuitive environment, promoting ease of navigation. The incorporation of colorful lines down the hallways is another noteworthy aspect, adding a vibrant aesthetic that guides children in a single file line. The thoughtful integration of these design elements addresses both functional and aesthetic aspects, creating a learning space that is visually engaging, practical, and efficient.
