This project was new Early Learning Center for Catholic Charities in our area. We were involved in the process from the early design, budget figures phase. This allowed us to be pro-active in material choices and vendor partnerships. The project presented challenges because the designer and owner were very focused on using multiple bright colors and large swooping designs in the Linoleum corridors and classroom settings. This required us to have aluminum templates made off of the CAD drawings in order make sure that our finished product carried through the vision that the designer had in mind.
In the carpet areas, the designer wanted to carry through little pops of color to match each individual room theme. This was done by adding feature strips based on specific locations that were called out.
As with most projects we face in the floor covering field, this one was significantly behind schedule when we were finally called upon. It led to some difficult conversations with the general contractor to explain that this type of customization and detail takes time and cannot be rushed. All things considered, the project turned out beautiful and incorporated everything the architect had in mind.
