Project Strategy
Spokane's hub for public transportation consists of retail, customer services, public restrooms and a large passenger staging area. This newly renovated facility adds convenience with modern amenities providing a more efficient user-friendly facility. The facility remained open during construction creating logistical problems for all trades specifically flooring. Phasing was a necessity to keep the facility operating with minimal inconvenience. Unfortunately the tile pattern made this challenging as we were only provided small areas to work during installation. Tile layout was key to ensure all areas would come together when the temporary walls were removed. One of the more unique challenges on this project was repurposing the brass cougar paws salvaged from the demolition of the exiting flooring. We took measurements and had the tile cut with a water jet. The paws fit perfectly into the tile and add an element of nostalgia to the plaza. The result is a first class facility providing more amenities, resources and a better experience for travelers.
