Project Strategy
Belmark is a state-of-the-art manufacturer of pressure-sensitive labels, printed flexible packaging and folding cartons, established in 1977. The company, which has four facilities on its campus in De Pere, Wis., planned a 41,000-square-foot expansion to its Plant 3, along with extensive renovations to Plant 1. The new, Plant 3 structure included a lobby, conference rooms, training center, new laboratory, additional offices and a skywalk linking Plant 3 to Plant 1. The refurbishment of 28,000 square feet in Plant 1 included office and conference spaces, a fitness center and a market-style café. Numerous styles and colors of Tandus Centiva carpet tile were installed to create a dynamic layout extending from open office spaces, to meeting rooms and the lobby area. The goal was to utilize the company’s original carpet-tile standard from its existing office and expanding it into a fun, modern work area. Completed over an eight-month period (December 2016-July 2017), 2-6 company installers worked on this $10-million project, depending on the phase. With the existing office remaining open throughout the project, maintaining reasonable noise levels and working around employees presented an ongoing challenge. The flooring installation itself offered arcs and layouts through materials, requiring installers to work directly with the project owner in several instances to ensure the layout was done exactly to specification.
