Project Strategy
Ted Moudis Associates designed a new 52,000 sf office space consisting of two adjoining floors for this Paris-based financial services company. The goal for the space was to provide a historical reference to Boulevard Haussmann in Paris, while at the same time providing a “Chicago Twist” to provide local relevance to the visuals. We translated this into a series of moments you experience while walking the space: Heritage Moments, Société Générale Moments and Chicago Moments. Heritage moments were embodied through the wood materials on the floor and two-story columns of the reception area as well as the two-story graphic wall. The Société Générale moments were exemplified in the use of materials & manufacturer’s synonymous with a SoGen build-out while Chicago moments came through the exposing of the raw black iron in the two-story space as well as the black iron being a primary focal point of the internal staircase.
The reception area makes use of solid raw materials that further promote the building heritage of Chicago while respecting Société Générale history. In terms of workspaces, employees work in a variety of settings including open plan, private offices, and bench desking on the trading floor. The office includes a number of collaborative and conferencing spaces, all equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology. A café and coffee bar serve as gathering spaces for the staff.
