Project Strategy
In the heart of the Salt Lake Valley, the Zions Bancorporation Technology Center brings new life to the former Sharon Steel Mill Superfund site. The six-story, 400,000 sf LEED Platinum Certified Technology Campus represents a long-term commitment to advanced financial technology and economic growth.
The design concepts use Zions’ principles of inclusivity, health, well-being, sustainability, and community investment. The building was intended to retain and attract local technology talent and is home to 2,000 employees, highlighting the company’s innovation, transparency, and strong foundation. As you move through the facility, pattern, scale, and color harmonize with the architecture to create a diverse, flexible, and innovative workspace.
The unique color palette draws inspiration from the rainbow spectrum and celebrates the diversity of the employees within. Throughout the space, the design team emphasized the angle of the Z in Zions Bancorporation’s name in accent features including paint, wood, and flooring.
Flooring plays a significant role in wayfinding and circulation while separating work environments. Workstation areas are consistently defined by the same carpet while collaboration areas are designated by a feathering of accent carpet and colors. Interior material selections, including flooring, were based on performance and sustainability, contributing to the building’s platinum LEED status.
