Project Strategy
This newly constructed Health Center sits in the heart of Austin. There were multiple layers of client involvement in the decision making for this project including the developer, regional healthcare organization, and tenants of the clinical building.
The design team was asked to select finishes that were equal in performance to the client’s existing standards while also delivering a modern aesthetic. Being a healthcare facility, it was critical that the flooring provide superior performance and cleanability. The wood-look LVT that became the majority of the project was selected to mimic wood accents in the core and shell public spaces, tying the design of the entire building together and delivering warmth to the space. Varying patterns of LVT were used for wayfinding and to delineate service areas, a method of elevating the patient experience.
The schedule was extremely tight throughout the project, but one week before tenants were scheduled to move in, a sprinkler main busted and flooded 18,000 square feet of the building. Demolition was required going one foot up on all 18,000 square feet. All rubber base and flooring were replaced and the entire space repainted. It took every person involved on the project working together as a team to overcome this extreme challenge, ultimately delivering a beautiful, functional space to serve patient’s health and wellness for years to come.
