Project Strategy
When the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon discovered University Medical Center's wish list included a state-of-the-art Pediatric Emergency Center, that wish was granted with resounding support.
A portion of the existing Emergency Center in Lubbock, Texas was triumphantly transformed into a brightly colored pediatric-friendly area by creating a new and dedicated children’s entrance and waiting area. This new portion of the Emergency Center also incorporates significant modifications and finish upgrades to all pediatric areas inclusive of patient rooms, triage, nurse stations, administrative offices, a break room, and the EC residency area. The CT Radiology Room was added near the Pediatric EC to improve pediatric patient support, streamline staff flow and decrease waiting time for results and treatment. The design encompasses a fun and whimsical environment to help ease and calm the nerves of pediatric patients.
