Project Strategy
Nestled in the heart of the Old Port, an ivy-covered brick building is home to ViA VECCHiA. An Italian Restaurant oozing 1920’s glam, delicious food and beverages. Designer, Wendy Polstein of QUILL design carefully selected materials and textures that make every corner and surface sing of Italian luxury and sophistication. The bar, set with Cashmere Carrara Quartz is anchored in black and white hex mosaic tile (Dal-tile), seats 20 people and feels original to the space. The raised booths parallel to the bar are lined with matching mosaics while the accent wall boasts a herringbone emerald green Primavera 3”x6” ceramic by California Art Tile. The award-winning bathrooms are designed with every young starlite in mind. Featuring Mersey Quartz and rich 4x4 Primavera tiles in black to match. Gold accents complete the look and deliver the story of Old Hollywood to all who visit.
Creating an escape for Portland’s vibrant Old Port, ViA VECCHiA needed to visually represent the mystery and beauty old Italy provides. Letting the design details, craftsmanship, and red wine take center stage. All design considerations were delicately balanced with the functionality a public restaurant and bar must provide.
