Project Strategy
Deliberate consideration was applied to integrate and respect the original design and color palette of the building, while only changing the flooring with all other existing finishes remaining in place. The existing flooring was very busy and distracting. The architect was selective in keeping an appropriate amount of red throughout common areas without overpowering the space. Charcoal was chosen to counterbalance the use of such striking colors creating intentional patterns at intersections, corridors, and media center. The corridors create a colorful repetitive cityscape effect highlighting only one side as not to overuse such an intense color while incorporating the school colors. The media center grabs your attention with bold linear colors delineating spaces that are set into Milliken's Moraine carpet tile geometrically designed charcoal backdrop carpet tile. The collaboration between the Architect, the Contractor, the Vendor Partners, and Floorcraft resulted in a renovation well received by all.
