Project Strategy
Watermere at Southlake is a luxury senior living community originally designed over a decade ago that was in need of an updated aesthetic. It was critical for the design to be consistent with the expectations of longtime residents as well as new homeowners. With careful consideration of the existing architecture, finishes, furniture, and artwork that would remain, flooring designs and color palettes were curated to ensure the updates blended seamlessly.
Sherri Hanisko with Milliken, who tragically passed away from COVID last year, was instrumental in providing the design committee with key carpet custom capabilities, costs, durability, and maintenance information.
Milliken worked meticulously with the interior designer to bring the carpet from design inception to installation using their ‘Design-On-Line’ program, saving time and expense in custom product development. The result was a diverse product package including 32-ounce tip shear broadloom patterns, carpet tile, and walk-off solutions; each selected because they addressed specific design and performance solutions for the community.
The installation team had a tremendous responsibility to the residents while working in the occupied space. Blocking off an area that a senior living resident travels through in a typical day can impact their stress levels and overall well-being. The team was diligent about ensuring all work areas were free of tripping hazards and that the work was performed to avoid disruption to the residents’ daily lives.
