When Master Craft Floors was brought into the project, the initial request of the owner was to refinish the existing wood floor. After Master Craft’s review, it was determined that the existing wood did not have “enough meat on the bone” to be refinished and opportunity knocked. Master Craft answered and was able to introduce the Hallmark line as the superior option for replacement.
Another curveball came during demolition. The existing substrate was compromised and had to be refloated/leveled at anywhere from 1/2” to 2” throughout. Once again, Master Craft looked to their Starnet partners and came back with solutions from both Uzin and Schönox.
Each suite consisted of approximately 1,000 SF with stairs that had to be torn out and reinstalled in 5 days. As with most construction projects these days, the owner pushed to not change the schedule, even though the rooms now needed to be heavily floated/leveled.
Master Craft was also challenged to demo and reinstall the new floor while leaving the existing wood base intact. Special care had to be taken, to not damage them during demo and make sure the new wood thickness was precisely accounted for when refloating the floors.
Master Craft appreciates it's opportunities in this one-of-a-kind city, to reinvent and reinvigorate spaces that accommodate the expectations of its diverse clientele.
