Project Strategy
Richland School District’s Teaching Learning and Administration Center, known as TLAC is in the south eastern region of West Richland Washington State. The District relocated its offices to consolidate multiple administrative departments together in one building to better serve the students, staff, and growing community within the District. The building is both a one and two-story design totaling approximately 41,500 square feet with offices for six district departments, three classrooms and board meeting space. Each of the finish materials selected were both durable and economical to fit within the budget and to serve the District’s needs for years to come. Floor finishes included Mannington Color Anchor LVT 12x24 planks for their durability and design options for floor patterns, and Mannington 24x24 carpet tiles for their ease of installation ease of maintenance. These products and colors complement this space making it an ideal state of the art multi-use facility.
Lewiston High School consists of a two-building, 77-acre campus located in north central Idaho overlooking the one-of-a-kind views of the Lewiston Valley. This new school is replacing the original Lewiston High School that served its community for over 92 years. The facility houses grade 9-12, and includes a 205,000 sq. ft., two-story main building, and a 39,000 sq. ft., single-story career technical education building. The main building features over 50 classroom and lab spaces, dramatic two-story commons with a sky bridge, connecting cafeteria, 1,000 seat performing arts center, library, and a 2,000 seat gymnasium facility with two upper-level auxiliary gyms with interconnecting jogging balconies.
The architect’s vision was to have a fun mix of color, but contemporary look through this expansive space. For floorcovering LKV Architects enlisted help of Starnet partner Mannington and their Design solutions team, who created multiple eye-catching patterns with both Mannington Color Anchor LVT and Mannington Mainboard carpet. Mannington Design Solutions created a unique to the industry floor map indicating true to life color and pattern layouts using architectural plans to create snapshots of corridors and classrooms to help the architect and school district visualize the finished products. Mannington was able to provide precise quantities and location of each color using their impressive design software which streamlined the estimation process. The collaboration between Mannington, LKV Architects and Great Floors to create and execute this vision for the school district and architect was impressive. Equally impressive was the use of technology to help end users visualize and select floor coverings in an educational facility that is truly one of a kind.
