The Galilee Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia was doing some renovations in their sanctuary. New electrical, HVAC and some ceiling work were all part of this scope. The committee wanted to do something special that would be noticeable for the congregation. Stained glass windows were considered until they found what the cost was. We suggested a designed inlay to be inserted into the wood floors of their chancel area. After that suggestion they showed us a chair cushion with the triquetra, which is a symbol composed of 3 fish representing the church’s Holy Spirit. We were asked to duplicate that design, match the tile color to the chair cushion, and we were told it needed to tie into the current décor. The church wanted a marble looking background to tie in the marble on the wall. The outer band color was added to frame the fish and complement the existing wood floors. That simple suggestion of a custom inlay, blossomed into a beautiful, custom mosaic tile insert that everyone was thrilled with.
