Project Strategy
The much needed expansion, restoration and preservation of the 90 year old iconic University of Minnesota Pioneer Hall dormitory quad was completed/open for school Fall of 2019. This dorm had no air conditioning, no elevators and was not handicap accessible. Rumors abound of bats, ghosts and haunted spirits occupying this turn of the century built student housing. The new design preserved a high level of historic integrity of the Georgian Revival style exterior and now meets today's standards for higher education residence halls. The dorm increased from 693 beds on 4 floors to 756 beds on 5 floors, large enough to accommodate all 2900 students. Dining expanded from 285 seats to 850 seats and includes a world class daily dining experience for students and the public alike. This is an exceptional student living facility that not only meets the high criteria of today's college applicants iit also stands out in the competitive college recruitment atmosphere. The 253,000 square foot facility also includes an environmentally friendly green roof and water capture system. What freshman would not want to live here!!!
