Derby High School, located in Derby, KS, is one of the area’s largest high schools, serving approximately 2,000 students. In addition to academics, the school participates in championship level athletic programs and over fifty extra-curricular activities and organizations. The phase 1 renovation was aimed to improve the overall learning environment and safety of the students and faculty. Replacing flooring which was original to the early 1990s building was a top priority of the project. We worked within a non-negotiable schedule of 7 ½ weeks from start to completion. The new flooring gave the space a bright, modern look while making cleaning and maintenance easier. Due to the nature of the new flooring, overall air quality of the building is also improved. Cool grey and white tones were chosen for the floor and walls. Accents of the school’s colors, green, black and white were used to bring vibrancy to the areas and increase school pride. The installed 64,165 sq. ft. pattern runs throughout multiple corridors and intersections creating a cohesive and open feel. Waterjet cut LVT logos were installed in the center atrium and in the athletic entrance. The renovation created an updated and welcoming learning atmosphere that will be enjoyed for years to come.
