Philipstown Recreation Center in Putnam County, NY was an old wooden basketball court, with sub-floor moisture issues, which warranted a full 8,500 square foot renovation. Our team met with the leadership of the rec center and explained what their options were and emphasized the need for moisture remediation. Initially, another product was recommended, but based on a month-long production time table, this was changed to Gerflor Recreation 85, an 8.5mm resilient sheet flooring. This was the first R85 project ever installed in the state of New York. We professionally offered a moisture mitigation system as an option to the concerns found upon completion of the wood flooring demolition and removal. This moisture system was not your typical mixture/rolled on poured flooring solution, which would have required shot blasting removal equipment but a sheet flooring called IsolSport by Gerflor. This turned a glue down to slab installation into a floating resilient gym floor. This was the first system of its kind sold in the U.S. by Gerflor due to our unmatched knowledge of the Gerflor product line as well as our installation background.
Work was done during the holidays and required us to bring heavy equipment in and out of a narrow doorway. In the end, we cut our risks in half, including a guaranteed finish date along with a cap on the overall budget of the client. The end result was a Gerflor professional level court, finished to perfection by our team. The renovated recreation center is stunning and the town is thrilled.
