Project Strategy

Dayton Children's wanted to create a special place where children of all ages in south west Ohio could receive the best specialty care close to home. The flooring design was to set the standard for future projects including their main campus patient tower expansion. The design is intended to be fun and inviting without being "childish". The concept of "pebbles" radiating out from key wayfinding decision points and "ribbons" to connect the "pebbles" creates a fun way to reinforce wayfinding through the flooring materials and patterns. The use of colors, patterns and neutrals were carefully coordinated with other building elements such as the wall paint, furniture, casework, graphics, artwork and signage to create a balance throughout the facility that is both fun and sophisticated.
