Project Strategy
Issaquah School District is a rapidly growing school district on Seattle's bustling east side. Cedar Trails Elementary School was designed with three different segments, a single story for the gym and cafeteria, two stories for the administration and library, and three stories for the classroom wing to accommodate the ever-growing elementary school population. Cornerstone Architectural Group achieved its goals of defining separation from adjacent flooring, adding interest to corridors, and separating areas utilizing the flooring by use of Tarkett rubber tile throughout the common spaces with colorful accents. In large spaces such as the cafeteria, lines have been cut into the floor tile to differentiate activity areas and gym floor striping is cut into the rubber tile for the various sports courts.
