After a series of service reductions, CVG’s Concourse A was closed, carriers relocated, and its future redefined. The resulting Vision to become a best-in-class airport included creating a travel-friendly atmosphere within a sustainable infrastructure. Designed for the modern traveler, Concourse A now boasts a ‘Rolling-on-the-River’ theme with soaring ceilings and natural light bouncing off 1920’s River City art deco mosaics.
While lighting and finishes were transformational, the flooring really strengthens the ‘Sense-of-Place.’ When years of grime and liquid staining were found under the existing carpet, Tandus Powerbond was chosen for its closed-cell cushion and fusing seams. Its impermeability to moisture and contaminants generates thermal and acoustical control while negating any delamination possibility. The Plexus’ wave-like pattern creates a clear path of travel while the District pattern, referencing the mosaics, reinforces movement.

Additionally working under stringent rules and regulations of TSA and installing 18,000 SY of carpet in 6 weeks was admired and recognized by the entire construction team and the owner.
