Headquartered in San Diego, California Quidel Corporation is a diagnostic healthcare manufacturer whose products improve the overall health and well-being of people around the globe.
With the current demand of the Covid pandemic, Quidel set out to design and construct a new product manufacturing and distribution center in Carlsbad California. This new 128,897 sq. ft. facility was completed in 9 months from conceptual design to occupancy and will enable a substantial increase in the product production of covid test kits and expedite issuance around the world.
In the early phases of concept development, it became evident that this new location needed to represent the very essence of Quidel. Through discussion and research, the design team drew inspiration from the Quidel logo. Each color found in the logo represents a specific product that Quidel develops, manufactures, and distributes so, it was only fitting to ingrate those colors throughout this facility. The Millikin Color Field line was the perfect fit to achieve the look, concept, and quick turnaround for this project. Additionally, the rainbow of colors found in the Tarkett VCT mirrored the design intent in the manufacturing and lab spaces. From the finishes used on ceilings to the flooring, every color was meticulously chosen with intention and purpose to create a space that is fun, modern, and unequivocally Quidel.
