Project Strategy
Bonitz Inc., a company founded in 1954 with over 16 locations throughout the Southeast, recently renovated it’s Charleston, SC location. The Charleston office located in the Lowcountry has been specializing in interior up-fits including flooring, ceiling, walls and access flooring for over 35 years. As part of our Core Values, our purpose is to positively impact and enhance the lives of a continuously growing Bonitz Family to include their associates, their families, and their customers, in a unique, profitable, and fun working environment.
When tasked with this office renovation we had to begin with reinforcing our culture that we have created together on this continuous journey towards unifying a Common Purpose, Core Values and company Vision.
People, products and design played a huge role in how we brought our purpose to life. A diversified mix of select products were used to develop a current, fun and interactive working environment for employees and our customers that we serve. As one of the original Starnet flooring members, it was particularly important for us to showcase a variety of flooring vendor partners’ products in a unique applications that could serve our customers in project conversations, educate around technology and inspire innovation for any built environment.
Additional technology with the use of a magnetic flooring solutions, demonstrated flexibility for future growth and ease of access to power and data. We even had some fun with an artistic wall statement made from millwork wall base from floor to ceiling. Talk about a conversation. Full disclosure we were inspired by the original design created by Suzanne Tick for Tarkett. Lastly, we had to continue to operate an essential business while renovating during an unprecedented global pandemic. Many of our in-house staff were utilized with their many talents to self-perform and juggle schedules at our disposal completing this project on budget and on time.
Note: Starnet Power Modules Access Flooring is located throughout Training Room + Open Area + Private Offices.
Unique Installation Challenge Strategy
While Bonitz wanted to showcase multiple flooring products, it created a complex installation in transitioning to each of those products throughout the various spaces to maintain a holistic continuity. The most challenging part of the installation was installing a new magnetic wood flooring system used with the Access Flooring to create an environment that is easily accessible to the power and data underneath, which is a new concept in flooring design.
