For the Interior Design of the Spa building we have taken the approach of creating a harmonious ‘modern desert’ design which seeks to both respect the existing building while providing an environment which is appropriate for the intended use of relaxing and healing.
Taking cues from the mid-century design on the property which embodies, a clean, uncluttered environment and which provides a connection to nature , we have married these initiatives with the southwest building form to create a concept which is grounded and authentic with a strong connection to nature through indoor/outdoor spaces, textures and materials. A zen concept which is southwest inspired.
The monochromatic but textural color palette will provide a visual sense of calm with subtle accents of soft color. The introduction of native American elements will speak to a sense of place but without being thematic.
The Spa will be a place of inner reflection where guests should feel grounded, safe and revitalized.
The 'modern desert' concept guided the material selections and finding the balance between comfort, aesthetic and functionality was a key driver.
The Kinetex product by JJ Flooring offered the desired balance by providing a soft-surface appearance but with the wearing performance of hard surface flooring. In addition, the 'Declare' label provided reassurance that the environment and human health was also considered which is especially important for the Spa environment.
